Driver simulators
Our district has two GFactor – CoDriVR virtual reality driving simulators available in the community for organisations to Hire/Host, free of charge.
The CoDriVR simulators have been brought to the community in response to feedback from driver licence service provides in our district who identified a need to improve access to driver mentoring for learner drivers.
The Mayors Taskforce For Jobs (MTFJ) is a nationwide network of New Zealand’s Mayors, administered by Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ), working together towards the vision of all young people under 25 being engaged in employment, education, training, and other positive activities in their communities.
MTFJ has developed the Industry Partnerships – MTFJ Community Employment Programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development (MSD). As part of the Programme, MTFJ have provided Tararua District Council with funding to enable them to deliver the MTFJ Community Employment Programme in the district. |
Tararua District Council, MTFJ, Taraua REAP and Waireka Community Trust recognised the CoDriVR driving simulators as a vital tool to support learner drivers in our community and have provided the necessary funds for the purchases.
The simulators are designed to work alongside existing driver programmes, to provide an effective tool that shapes learners’ confidence and competence to drive, in a safe, risk-free environment. Users will be issued with a unique login that will track their progress as they proceed through each module with multiply levels.
How to book a session on the driving simulator? Users are encouraged to contact the CoDriVR Host. Host venues will be posted to our facebook page and updated when the simulators are relocated to other venues within our district.
