Eketāhuna Inflow and Infiltration Inspections

Starting December 2, 2024, our contractor, Citycare Water, will be inspecting wastewater pipes in Eketāhuna. This is part of our effort to reduce stormwater entering the wastewater network, which can cause overflows.

👷‍♂What you need to know:

  • Contractors may access your property for checks.
  • They will carry ID and TDC warrants.
  • Inspections will take place between 7:30AM-5:00 PM (weather permitting).

All affected residents in Eketāhuna should have received a letter.


Update 1: Monday 2 December

The Eketāhuna Inflow and Infiltration inspections will take place on the following dates in the roads/streets indicated:

Tuesday 03 December - Wednesday 04 December:

High Street / Drummond Street / Turnor Street / Stout Street / Stanly Street

Thursday 05 December to Friday 06 December:

Bridge Street / Cliffe Street / Church Street / Wilsons Lane


Update 2: Monday 13 December

Citycare Water will continue conducting smoke testing of the sewer mains throughout Eketāhuna this week.

Work Details:

  • Dates: Monday, 13 January 2025 – Thursday, 16 January 2025
  • Time: Weekdays from 07:30 to 16:00

Procedure:

  • A smoke machine will be positioned at each manhole to blow smoke into the sewer.
  • A bung will be placed in the sewer main and the next manhole.
  • The team will progressively move from manhole to manhole.

Duration:

Each manhole test is expected to take between 40 and 60 minutes.

Areas of Focus:

  • Monday 13 Jan and Tuesday 14 Jan: Areas 4 and 3 on the east side of town.
  • Wednesday 15 Jan and Thursday 16 Jan: Areas 1 and 2.
  • Future Work: Sections along the state highway will be addressed after these areas are complete. Council is expecting an update later in the week and will share this when it is available.
