Ākitio will be holding its annual fishing competition over the Labour Day weekend.  This Year it's taking place on Saturday 26 October.

As we have seen on past competitions, there will be an influx of people travelling to Ākitio to take part in the competition .  This increase in people could put pressure on Ākitio's water supply and we are asking Ākitio residents to get their water dependent tasks completed throughout the remainder of this week, such as car washing and water blasting, so that the towns water tanks are full when people arrive for the competition.

If you are not an Ākitio resident but are travelling there to participate in the competition please do your best to conserve water during your stay.
