Te Ahu a Turanga - Manwatū Tararua Highway; Mayor, Councillors and Community Board members visit

As the Te Ahu a Turanga – Manawatū Tararua Highway nears completion, the Mayor, Councillors, and members of the Dannevirke and Eketāhuna Community Boards recently visited the site to witness the remarkable progress that has been made.

Mayor Tracey Collis said "All discussions about the toll road aside, the Te Ahu a Turanga team have done an amazing job on the highway. It stands as an engineering masterpiece, showcasing the enormous amount of work that goes into a project of this scale".

The road stretches 11.5 km. Currently, 43,000 tonnes of asphalt has been placed, with completion of the road surface expected by Spring 2025. The Woodville roundabout is on track for early 2025 completion, and the Parahaki Bridge, which spans 300 metres, is now structurally complete, with just minor finishing touches still to be done.

The road opening is scheduled for mid-2025, and by April 2025, 1.8 million native plants will have been planted on the project.

Keep an eye out for the next flyover video, which will be posted on the NZTA webpage soon.
