Seeking your views on our updated bylaws
24 June 2024
Bylaws are rules made by Council under the Local Government Act 2002. They are created for the purpose of protecting the public from nuisance, protecting, promoting and maintaining public health and safety; and minimising the potential for offensive behaviour in public places.
Bylaws are also made to regulate activities such as solid waste, and to manage, regulate and protect Council infrastructure from damage or loss, including the public water supply network and cemeteries.
A number of Council’s bylaws that were last updated in 2018 are now due for review. During July we will be seeking your views on proposed amendments to the following:
- Keeping of Animals Bylaw
- Alcohol Bylaw
- Cemeteries Bylaw
- Public Places Bylaw
You'll be able to pick up a copy of the statement of proposal, draft bylaw, and submission form from any of Council's libraries or customer service centres, or download from our website at www.tararuadc.govt.nz/publications/consultation from 1 July 2024.
The submission period runs from 1 July 2024 to 31 July 2024
