Pre-consultation on the Proposed District Plan Review 2024-2025

9 December 2024

Pre-consultation is an opportunity for our public to provide early feedback on our draft proposed District Plan. We welcome your pre-consultation feedback which is running through to 1 March 2025. Starting in May 2025 we will open for formal consultation on the proposed District Plan.

What is the District Plan?

The District Plan controls the way land is used, developed and sub-divided in the Tararua District. It helps determine where activities can take place in the District, under what restrictions and what natural and cultural features should be protected.

Examples of how it can affect me:

* How close to the boundary you can build or extend your house, garage, or other buildings

* How many dwellings you can have on your property

* Whether you can sub-divide your property

* Whether you can operate a business from home

* The organisation of festivals and events, and more

TDC will be hosting District Plan Review pre-consultation drop-in sessions in the new year at the following venues:

28 January 2025, 4:30pm - 7:30pm: The Hub, 24 Allardice Street, Dannevirke

29 January 2025, 4:30pm - 7:30pm: Sports Centre, 64 Ross Street, Woodville

30 January 2025, 4:30pm - 7:30pm: Council Chamber, 136 Main Street, Pahiatua
