Precautionary boil water notice for the Eketāhuna Water Supply - LIFTED
Tararua District Council would like to advise that the precautionary boil water notice for Eketāhuna water supplies has been lifted as of today, 28 January 2022 – 4pm.
The Eketāhuna Precautionary Boil Water notice was issued on 21 January 2022 due to heavy rain which caused the source water to become turbid and non-compliant with the NZ Drinking Water Standards requirements.
Turbidity levels at the Eketāhuna water treatment plant have reduced to levels compliant with the NZ Drinking Water Standards and three consecutive days of sampling and testing the water within the water supply network (as required in the standards) has come back clear. No e.coli were detected at any point.
Council would like to extend a sincere thank you to all residents in Eketāhuna for your cooperation and patience. Council would also like to thank the Taumata Arowai for their support and advice during this time.
Council is currently upgrading the water treatment plant which will reduce the risk of reoccurrence in the future. This project is planned to be completed in April.
