13 July 2022: Precautionary Boil Water Notice issued for Eketāhuna
A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for Eketāhuna. This is due to various factors, including the recent heavy rain resulting in the Makakahi River being in high flow with high turbidity level, issues at the upgraded water treatment plant following the main power switch blowing over the weekend, and an increased use of water from the treated water reservoir overnight which has caused water supply disruption to many residents this morning.
At this time we are unable to guarantee complete disinfection of all contaminants, meeting NZ Drinking Water Standards, so a boil water notice has been issued on a precautionary basis. No E.coli has been detected in the water.
The temporary water tank located behind the fire station in Eketāhuna will be available for residents. It will be replenished today and an update will be sent when that has occurred.
