About the role
Operating collaboratively between the Council and Tararua Alliance offices, this role serves as a key source of procurement expertise for both the Tararua Alliance and Council teams. The focus lies in establishing and nurturing effective relationships with suppliers, agencies, and diverse stakeholders to optimize public value and secure favourable procurement outcomes for the Council. A crucial aspect of the position involves taking the lead in delivering best practice procurement services, empowering the Tararua Alliance to fulfil its commitments under the Tararua District Council’s Transport Activity Procurement Strategy. Proactive management of the Alliance’s Subcontractor Procurement Panel is central to the role, entailing the cultivation of strong ties with local suppliers, clear communication, and the implementation of robust processes for tendering opportunities. Additionally, the role extends to providing leadership in enhancing the maturity of procurement and supply chain leadership, ensuring a unified procurement approach and methodology across the entire council. Upholding standards of probity, integrity, and independence is paramount in maintaining the ethical foundation of the procurement processes.
Who we are looking for
Ideally, you will possess:
- Relevant experience leading tenders, tender evaluations, procurement reporting and contract negotiation.
- Detailed knowledge and practical experience of procurement systems, practice, policy processes and techniques.
- Strong practical experience in supply market
- Experience in developing and maintaining strong, effective supplier and internal stakeholder relationships.
